Kate Vilches is the knowledge management lead at Ulteig, an infrastructure and sustainable engineering company, and a librarian by training. She joined Ulteig’s digital transformation team in March 2022 with the goal of building a knowledge management practice centered on people and enabled by technology. Her current projects include implementing an engineering and skills taxonomy to improve search and discovery, embedding knowledge capture into daily workflows, and providing guidance to the company’s fledgling Subject Matter Expert program. Kate began her career in engineering librarianship at Lockheed Martin, where she was able to work in a variety of information projects on engineering standards research, and business analytics. When she isn’t working or reading up on information organization, Kate enjoys gardening and kayaking the rivers of Central Florida with her family.
