Staff Applied Information Scientist in the Xero AI Products Team, Jane has spent her career facilitating the description, storage, discovery, understanding, and use of data across various agencies and sectors. Jane pioneered the presence of information science at Xero, and today works to understand "why the data looks the way it does" and apply information science to build ML and AI products that make life better for small businesses and their advisors. Previously, Jane led ontology design and usage at SEEK.com.au to facilitate matching and recommendation within the employment market. At the Australian National Data Service, Jane helped launch the world’s first national controlled vocabulary and ontology management platform. Jane led the development of a master data management system for collectible items with Stanley Gibbons, the world’s premier stamp collecting firm, and helped develop the LC Medium of Performance Thesaurus for Music while interning at the US Library of Congress Policy and Standards Division.
