Ed's original plan was to get his MLIS and then go work for his alma mater's library. Instead, upon receiving his degree from the University of Washington iSchool, he promptly entered the world of corporate metadata management and never looked back. When he's not daydreaming about the halls of academia, he's usually elbow-deep in taxonomies and ontologies of all sizes. He's managed Books and Kindle categories at Amazon, helped Microsoft migrate to a new knowledge base system, and been at ground zero at companies like Starbucks and Electronic Arts as they take their first steps towards enterprise taxonomies. And he's still tinkering with his refactor of video game classification, even if no-one wants to pay him to do it.
