Hailing from New Jersey, USA, self-identified "word nerd," Amy Funderburk has always had a passion for how languages and words work. She studied languages (German, English, French, linguistics) at university in both the U.S. and Germany, including study abroad and a Fulbright scholarship. In 1997, she began her SAP career as a product translator and terminology superuser. In 2001, she was instrumental in creating the first stylebook at SAP, which led to various corporate and executive communications roles. In 2009, she became the global head of One Voice and Naming at SAP, leading product naming and corporate messaging efforts in English and German, a role she held for 12 years. In 2022, she was appointed to a newly created role as Chief Corporate Taxonomist. Amy has lived nearly 30 years in Germany and her passions remain tennis, travel, coffee, cats, and books.
